I work within a small team and as summer is a busy period we employed two summer workers. My boss is on holiday for ten days and as supervisor im in charge when she is away. One of the summer workers has been arse licking the boss before she went away - buying expensive gifts for her birthday, staying behind to chat about soaps and what ever. My boss has done nothing but bitch to me about her saying shes so full on etc. I am having trouble with the summer worker as she constantly challenges everything i say, tries to remind me of tasks even when i am about to do them, she is a nightmare!
so, boss away on hols told us all not to contact her unless urgent. A few days in the summer worker points out a problem, i tell her how to deal with it and said its fine its happened before. She then went behind my back and 'facebooked' my boss via private message told her of the problem and asked how she would sort it. My boss told her what i had told her then proceeded to ask how things were, friendly chats etc. So i am in charge and i have never been asked how things are. The girl clearly has a problem with me been in charge and must think im shit at my job.
the other summer worker has expressed her concerns about the bitching and tells me what the trouble maker had said. She also said i wonder what she (me) will get pulled up on when boss is back.
i am so angry my boss is having conversations over Facebook with these workers instead of coming to me who has been running the place! I am annoyed she bitches to me about them yet bitches to them about me! I am done, ready for walking after this. What should i do?

I really do feel for you.
I've just left a job because my boss made my life a living hell and pitted staff against each other.
My advice would be to look for another job asap but in the meantime try to keep some composure.
In my experience these problems are seldom remedied by discussions in fact they have a habit of fanning the flames.
