Just wondering if there are any actor mums on here, and how you manage it.

I trained in Theatre Studies and I found that I could potentially get the work, just not the flexible childcare. Even the local AmDram needed the expected commitment that I just couldn't give because the children were too young. However, I did involve myself with a local children's 'Stage School' which was great fun. The childcare issues really put a stop to my acting career and I resorted to getting a conventional 9-5 job. I'm a bit too old now to try again.

For a while, I believed that acting was my true calling in life but actually, it's being a mum (with some Jazz Hands on the side!).

Have you thought about starting your own theatre company? At least you'll have some control over when and where you work.
