I’m 20 weeks and still can hide my small bump. I will be made redundant next week and just want to know, if I’m lucky enough to get an interview, should I tell my potential new employer or wait till after I’m offered the job?

(Not really a fan of hiding things but I’ve already experienced the mood change when I’ve told two agency personnel I’m pregnant)

Also if I don’t find work for the next 4 months will I even qualify for Maternity allowance from the government? (As my old employer conveniently made the decision to make me redundant 17 working days before they would contractually have to pay me SMP)

I'll only get just over £2000 in redundancy pay!

Hi
I am in a similar situation. I'm 20 weeks now. I was made redundant a couple of months ago and due to severe 'morning' sickness, I wasn't able to look for work straight away. I've been looking for work for a few weeks now but can't find anything, and my bump is quite prominent and not easy to hide.
I looked into the maternity allowance and you can claim this as an unemployed person if you don't qualify for SMP, once you are 26 weeks.

I think legally you don't have to tell an employer you are pregnant up until the 6 months mark.

Good luck with everything x
