Hi Everybody !!

I need help ! I'm jobless and almost 5 weeks pregnant with my second child ! It was not planned but I can't afford to stay at home ! Do you think it's still possible to find a job without saying at the interview that I'm pregnant ? Normally, you have to tell your employer you are pregnant after the 12 weeks scan no ? I'm really worried !!! All advices are welcomed!!!

You might be able to find a job and then tell them when you accept

You don't have to tell your employer until about 20 weeks I think and that is if you are claiming SMP which you won't be able to

Scary...I just want to work, I don't want to be 8 months at home... I dont want to suffer of discrimination or of being accused I'm a liar because I didn't tell them at the interview I'm pregnant...Thank you so much for your answer !

Hi REDFRUIT, I had the same problem. We returned from overseas and I was already 9 weeks pregnant, it is really tricky, I decided I would tell any potential employer because I didn't want to start a job in a dishonest way, but you could probably get away with telling them after you take the job and pretend you just found out. I ended up locuming for a small company and it worked out really well, I was honest with them from the start and although I wasn't entitle to mat leave I worked until 2 weeks before the birth they were really understanding and have now employed me on a permenant basis 1.5 days a week (ds 5 months). Honesty is always the best policy and at least you can relax. Congratulations X

Maybe you could get a temp job ? I agree with previous poster that honesty is the best policy. You won't feel guilty and they will probably treat you quite well if you tell the truth.

It shouldn't matter and you are under no obligation to tell them until you present your MATB1 form (around 24 weeks iirc) although they might be pretty p'ed if you did that so being up front is probably best. It would be discrimination if they chose someone else just because of the pregnancy but of course they may find an alternative reason anyway. Good luck

go for it! you could always say you didn't know. coming clean would probably go against you unfortunately

Thank you for all your answers ! It cheers me up ! I guess I'm going to say nothing until my first 12 weeks scan or if I feel good with the manager I'll tell the truth...I really want to work, I hope it's going to be ok, I've got an interview on Friday, fingers crossed !
