I'm applying for a job which is related to my old pre-DC career, however for the last few years I've done a mish-mash of things chosen primarily for their convenience

Would it make sense to parcel them all up together somehow - I'm thinking of saying something along the lines of "Between xxxx and xxxx I was on a career break but I kept myself busy with x and x and x" and then highlight the features of those jobs which could conceivably be relevant?

IMO that sounds fine. Maybe add that you chose these jobs as they worked with your childcare arrangements at the time but you're now looking to continue wih your career. Obviously you don't need to mention children if you don't want to

Thanks - having school-aged children is actually a plus got this particular job so fine to mention them
