How long do I have to decide about job?

Hi

I went for an interview yesterday and am expecting to hear back later today regarding the outcome.

If I am offered the job, do I have to accept on the spot or is there some leeway to consider? I was asked at the interview whether I was still interested and confirmed I was but need to sort out afterschool childcare before I commit.

Thanks for any advice.

You can ask for some time before you give a definite yes, I would think a few days would be ok.

Thanks for the quick reply, Selks.

Is it OK to say I want to discuss it with my husband first? I can get back to them tomorrow. It is almost definitely a yes from me if I can get it to work.

You don't need to give a reason, just say you want a bit of time to think it over. Good luck.

Or you could say something like "I intend to say 'yes' but I need to confirm that the practical arrangements can be made to work - I wouldn't want to say 'yes' and then have to let you down". That way you don't sound like you might be having second thoughts.
