2nd interview on Monday..

I have a 2nd interview on Monday. Only just confirmed late this afternoon. It is v short notice but I could go. I can't pull a sicky for the full day on Monday as I have meetings I have to attend in one half of the day in my current role. I can't let my current employer know I have an interview though I imagine they will largely suspect. How do I get to the interview? What excuse could I use? The new role could be ideal but I hate lying...

Can you say you need to take some time for a personal matter? Maybe hint at a hospital appointment arranged at short notice (although I wouldn't do this).

Equally I think it's reasonable to tell the interviewing firm that Monday is too short notice, it would be a lot easier if you could just book half a day.

Would it be easier just to come clean, given you think your employer will suspect anyway?
