I'm redundant but I don't know when

Most of our team were made redundant in April. We were told in Feb that we our work was relocating and given a date and a quote for our redundancy payments. Then 3 of us were told that our (specialist)function would not relocate to the new set up and they would have to contract it out. We have now been waiting for invitation to tenders to go out, tenders to come back, meetings with board etc and the date keeps slipping. Meanwhile 2 of us have been offered another job. Anyone know - Can they mess us around as long as they want to?

What you know is that your function is likely to be contracted out at some point in the future. Until anything is definite, they are not obliged to do anything, not sure what you feel they could do?

If the function is just transferring to a new company your job may just transfer as well, unless the location is very different or something, so there may not be a redundancy situation at all.

Uncertainty is never good but at least you have more breathing space in terms of looking for another job.
