New employers changed their mind

I was offered a job last week. I didn't mention the fact I was pregnant at the interview and I don't think they noticed, I was 22 weeks gone at the time.

I started on Monday at 24 weeks. There was no hiding it and I didn't try to hide it either. I thought this way im not trying to deceive them.

I was advised I would be starting with another girl when they offered me the job.

After I had arrived and been shown around. Me and this other girl were left waiting for about 20 minutes. Then the manager came out and pulled us into a meeting with one of their staff members (I presume as a witness) and said there are no longer two jobs available and we will now be competing for a single role. They make their decision Friday.

Does this sound right??
I feel like it's not.

Also, the other girl was placed with someone who trained her far better than who I was placed with Monday and Tuesday. I addressed this issue on the Wednesday morning, I also officially made the manager aware I was pregnant. The manager seemed to put on a surprised look and then asked if wanted to swap trainers, so I did.

Am I being discriminated against? I feel like the other girl was giving a two day head start in a five day race. Possibly because they saw me waddle in pregnant.

I'm also not convinced there is only one job role available as there was another new starter Tuesday and they have been interviewing all week.

Well, if they dismiss you because of your pregnancy that's unlawful discrimination.

I would suggest you say to your manager you are a bit puzzled as they have had more new starters since you joined and are still interviewing. You might also want to consider throwing a shot across their bows by saying you hope their decision to dismiss one of you is not related to your pregnancy.
