Did your employer tell you when and how much maternity pay you would get?

As above really.

I told my employers way before my qualifying week of my pregnancy and what date I wished to start my maternity leave, along with my matb1 form. I'm now 4 weeks away from starting my near, have had this confirmed ect but have had nothing on paper about how much I'm entitled to, or what days it will be paid etc.

Did any of you get this information in writing? I can't say which company I work for as it's not allowed and is a sackable offence!

Dont you have a handbook?

The basic amount of smp is 90 percent for the first six weeks, £134 (ish) for the following 33 weeks and nothing for the last 12 weeks.

It should be in your contract / terms and conditions / staff handbook.

I know I'm entitled to the 90% smp etc but I've opted for the companies enhanced maternity package which is better than smp. I'm just surprised that with 4 weeks to go till I start my leave I've had nothing in wiring about my payment schedule and amount that's all.

Statutory maternity pay higher rate is 90% of your average earnings in the 8 weeks up to the 29th week of pregnancy. You get this for 6 weeks, then move onto lower rate for 33 weeks or until you return to work whichever is sooner. Lower rate is £138.18

Some employers top this up with occupational maternity pay.
There is no legal obligation to advise you of how much you will get but many companies will do so.
I would suggest you ask your payroll or HR dept

Have you asked them? With my last baby (can't remember first) I got a letter confirming their receipt of my MatB1 and my prospective date of leaving. The letter then told me I'd be paid 90% salary for 6 weeks, 50% + SMP for the following 20 weeks (v. lucky to have such a good employer) then SMP only up to the 39th week (or whatever it is legally - I returned to work after 7 months both times). I'd also be paid for bank holidays occurring during my leave rather than being able to add them on as extra annual leave at the end. They didn't actually tell me what these figures were though.

I then asked if they could give me a breakdown of what I'd actually be getting per month in my pay packet for my leave period as because the leave started mid-month it wasn't all that easy to calculate myself, SMP seems to vary by month depending on the number of days it has and the bank hols thing added an extra level of confusion, so it was much easier just to get the figures from payroll for budgeting purposes. It definitely helps to know exactly what you should be expecting to receive for the whole time you're off

I'll give HR services a call tomorrow as I'm not in work tomorrow. I don't know why it just dawned on me at this time of night about maternity pay haha x

Mine told me it was so many weeks at x, so many weeks at y but I don't get paid weekly I get paid calendar monthly so I wanted an illustration of what I'd actually receive each pay day. They couldn't because they were rubbish. I cack handedly tried myself and asked if it looked right to them, cue blank faces.

I wrote to confirm the start of their maternity leave. Then on the day they go maternity leave they get a letter stating exactly what they get paid when, what their anticipated return to work date is, what to do if they want to return and what to do if they don't want to return.
The basic details are in the hand book, if government changes maternity pay whilst they are off we write to confirm the change and we also write if pay reviews happen detailing any changes to thir pay.
