Straw Poll on applications after closing date

I've received an email from a third party regarding a job where the closing date has already passed. I currently do the exact same job. It is 15k more starting salary than I am currently on. I've emailed the company to ask can I apply anyway. it's a fairly niche position. The company I currently work for has accepted applications after the closing date for specialist jobs where the recruitment pool isn't that big.

In a completely unscientific straw poll, I'm trying to guage how likely they are to let me apply. Have you ever applied after a closing date? Or from an employer perspective, does your company allow late applications?

if they don't let my apply I've kept a copy of the ad for pay negotiations with my current employer

Thank you.

A few hours after the deadline and I may accept an application. But I like to short list the day after closing and invite to interview the following day, so in reality simply couldn't accept late applications.

If you are perfect for the job they would be silly to not look set your application.

*at your application

Depends entirely on how many applications they've had and the quality of them.

If we've had hundreds and already done the shortlisting, then the late one wouldn't even be looked at. If the job is proving difficult to fill with the quality we want then an application received a week late would be a god send.

If the recruiter sent out an email after the closing date it is that they made a mistake sending it out or they forgot to update the closing date and are still looking. If it's a niche position it is probably that they are still looking. I would apply anyway, it could you call the third party recruiter? Things generally seem to progress quicker with a call to them anyway.

Thank you all.

peppermint email came via a circular round up thing so not from the recruiter.

Not heard back yet. We'll see.

Thanks again.

I saw my perfect job advertised online but when I went to apply the deadline had passed. I tracked down the HR director (which took a week) and emailed direct. I received a curt email saying they didn't accept direct applications but a week later I was called for an interview.

I was eventually offered job - was very niche, senior position though and I expect that they were not overwhelmed by suitably qualified candidates.

Go for it Smile

They said no as they've already short listed but will keep my details.
