Part time work - would anyone be interested in this idea?

Would anyone be interested in working part-time, totally flexible hours. It would involve visiting a business's customers, carrying out a courtesy call, and checking some (very simple) elements of the business's machinery. Of course training would be given, but it is not too technical. Hours totally to suit, only stipulation is that each customer would get a visit every 3 or 4 months. I am looking for feedback at this stage. I think it sounds like a good opportunity for people to work within their own time constraints etc. What do you think and what would people expect to be paid? Appreciate your comments, thank you.

I think the travel thing would throw it either way for me. What sort of distance apart/from my location would the businesses be? Are we talking a till in tescos (ie everywhere) or a certain piece of machinery if which there are only five in the country?

Hi CaulkheadUpNorth :)
Thanks for the feedback. It would be locations easily to travel to, within an area agreed by you which is easy to access.

Flexible pt work is always sought after. I think wages would depend on the level of training, mileage allowance, how flexible visits are etc. but tbh I'd be interested in anything that fits into school hours so as long as I got about £10 an hour I'd probably do it.

I think that sounds like a great opportunity for some and is definitely be interested if I was looking for work.

Is it a business you will be starting?

EvilStepMam · 13/06/2014 16:57

Sounds interesting, would it be on a self employed or paye basis?

BuzzardBird · 13/06/2014 16:59

This would suit me as long as it was within say a 2 hour drive and I could get back within school pick up. Obviously if using own vehicle then some sort of mileage allowance needs to be taken into consideration as I have found with the increased price of fuel these days driving all over the Midlands for my business was getting very expensive. I have a sales background on the road so this would be perfect for me.

Thanks all for feedback. It is just one of a few ideas in my head at the moment, but I hope this to be in place soon...

EvilStepMam, I this would be on a self-employed basis.

BuzzardBird, payments for fuel/travel costs, travel time time (inc travel time).

My opinion is that the flexibility allows people like us to work, without being restricted to any hours, or major commitments - keeps us in the working world whilst allowing us to still concentrate on our families. Your feedback is important and valuable to me - thank you to all :)

Hi Bici, is this still something you are looking into?

I'm looking for home based work and have my own car, I would definitely be interested.
