Improving SEO

I've recently launched a new website- it's a free one but is okay I think- and within the package I can list words etc for search engines.

However, it's not being picked up by google etc yet.

I'm getting some hits from my profile I have on a national website I belong to ( a professional association) but what can I do to improve my google ranking?

have you set up an adwords account and incorporated the google spider code into your pages?

google takes up to two months to spot pages ...
use FB and linkeding to promote it

Hi- no although the website provider did send emails etc about doing something like that.
But is this the same as google ad clicks where you have to pay every time someone clicks on your website?
Sorry if this sounds dim....

Submit your url to Google to give it a little headstart: www.google.co.uk/submit_content.html

Install Google analytics so you can keep track of how people are finding you.

Yes adwords is the one where you have to pay. Facebook Ads may be cheaper and better targeted.

Good luck with your new venture. Many people have gone down this road before you and left helpful blog posts in their wake so if you Google anything you want to learn you should find some useful tutorials.

In order for Google to register your site, the best thing is to setup a Google+ profile and put your address there. Secondly, you can use the link provided by MellowMarshmallow.

But to achieve good rankings, you will need quite a few sites linking to your site and it is a time taking process unfortunately.

For quick traffic, you can setup an Google Adwords campaign. Google gives away free £25-£50 vouchers to get your started so look around for them.
