I want to retrain but can't afford it

I would like to retrain as a beautician.

My local college does a year long course for four days a week from 9.30-2.30pm. It costs £1080. I can pay this in monthly instalments.

But their heavily subsidised creche has a long waiting list. Sigh. I can't afford the usual childminder fees for my 2 year old ds.

I feel so trapped. It's a bugger. I just want to get on and get back into work in a family friendly role which I thought a beautician would be.

Whinge over. Thanks for listening.

I have the same problem. Can get an advanced learning loan to cover the course fees, but can't afford the childcare for 15 hours a week and not entitled to any help with it as my partner works (albeit for 18k a year!). It's incredibly disappointing!

So until they hit school age, we can't progress at all.

I guess we chose to have children so it's our own darned fault. Right? (-;
