retraining to be a TA - which course?

Hello

I'm currently working part-time in a decently paid profession, but after volunteering at my DS school I'm interested in working as a TA.
I understand that TA jobs are very sought after, so in addition to continuing to volunteer I want to home study an NVQ level 3 or similar in childcare and education.
Can anyone recommend a course or provider? There seem to be about a million of the blinking things and it's impossible to work out which one is best...

Talk to the other TAs at the school and ask the advice of the head.

You're right there are a million courses and providers and some are a lot better than others.

I would avoid home study and only go for a course where you have an assessor who comes in to the school to watch your practice. A college course is much more advisable.

I would much rather do a college based course, but I need to work part-time, look after my son out of school hours and will not have access to a car to get to a college either. I totally understand that home study is the second best choice, just hope I can find the best way to do it...
I asked advice of the business manager and head of early years at the school, but didn't get anything really useful from them.
