What is a non malicious lie?

The lies are pretty serious, part of an ongoing issue but apparently are not being investigated or looked into as they are not deemed to be malicious?

I have also been thanked for my honesty and want to come up with a bloody great quote about them not needing to thank me, it's how most people outside of the trust that I work for behave.

It means the statement is untrue but the person making the statement has no intent to damage you by making it.

Oooohhh goodness me, the so did!

Do you think I get an apology for the lie now?

Sorry, I can't let this go.

For what other reason is there to lie about someone?
