Have you left a job to go freelance - if so please tell me about it.

Just that really. I'm currently working 2 days per week but have a 2 hour round trip each time. The job has gone downhill and I'm not prepared to put up with it much longer, my eldest starts primary school in September & I'd like to have the flexibility to do the school drop off & pick up.

I'm seriously thinking about handing in my notice & starting a freelancing career/ setting up my own business. My husband totally supports me in this, but I guess I'm just being a bit of a scaredy cat...SadCan anyone give me the kick up the arse I need please!!

My husband did this a few years back and he went on a course run by HMRC that explained all about working for yourself, tax etc. he found that very helpful, although no idea if they still do that sort of thing.

yes, and it widened my horizons, doubled my earnings, gained appreciation and respect for my abilities.

Not exactly but I did become a freelancer after having a career break of 5 years.
It's going really well, I work round the kids and earn a good wage
