Job applications: Full time posts but requesting part time hours.

What is the etiquette on this? I've been told as a tip that I could still apply to FT positions but request for job share. At what stage should I enquire about this? Before applying or during the interview? Are candidates of this type less likely to be offered the job?

Any advice appreciated. Thank you.

Good question - would be good to hear others experiences. I am in the same boat. Had a first interview for a full time post this week and said I would be interested in a job share or part time. They said they would consider 4 days not 5 for the right candidate so worth asking. In my experience (and I've had to walk away from two jobs now due to flex working apps being rejected), I think it largely comes down to the view of that particular manager and whether they appreciate that part time parents are often even more comitted than their full time counter parts due to how much they value the flexibility of the job. I think it also depends on the specific job as well - i.e. if they are advertising for someone to do a task in set hours e.g. staff a helpline 9-5 they obv won;t want to consider people asking for school hours, but most of the jobs I go for I could argue that I can work for the most part from home IYSWIM... good luck!

I'm also in the same position. After trying to find something advertised as part time I've given up and am just applying for full time positions now. I'll ask if it's possible to do 4/5 or working from home at interview stage.

Luckily I'm in London, have good experience and there's a lot of demand for what I do so hopefully I can find an employer open to this.

I did this and it worked for me. Applied for full time role and asked about part-time working once I was offered the role. Initially it was a no but then they came back to me and said yes to 4 days a week! I was thrilled!
