redundancy and relocation request

Hi I'm a new member to mumsnet and hope someone can give me some advice, I'm going through a TUPE process where I'm currently in redundancy consultation. My employer wants to change my location of work, which is approx 1hr travel time on train from my existing location. I work part-time abd have 2 children under 5 in nursery and a child in primary, do I have any rights to argue their offer as being unreasonable?

Any advice is much appreciated!

Thanks

Your personal circimstances can and should be taken into account when deciding whether a job offered as an alternative during a redundancy consultation is suitable.

Distance from your current work location isn't especially relevant as presumably you won't be making that journey. How much further is it from home than your current location, how much longer will the commute take and what will the actual impact on your personal circumstances be- those are the things to focus on. Will it cost you lots in childcare or something, what's the actual impact.

Hi thanks for the advice, the relocation has huge impacts on my personal circumstances, the journey is approx 1 half hr travelling time and will have consequences with childcare arrangements and school drops and pick ups.

I was advised today that they may offer me something on an informal basis in the area I'm currently working in, this service would be based on the demand in the area. However they insist the location of my contract should remain as their original proposal. My worry is if Iacaccept their offer to continue working in my current location and demand decreases in a few months time, they may insist I work in the location on my new contract. This would carry the risk therefore that I would lose my redundancy payment if I accept.. and even if I accept they could change the location in 6months time where by at that point I would be resigning if o choose not to travel/commute.
