How long did it take you to get back into it?

I've been back at work for almost 3 weeks after 10 months mat leave. I don't want to be there, but financially I have to
work. But I just can't get back into it - I give no shits about anything! I just can't make myself feel bothered about things, I just want to be at home with DD.

How long until this feeling passes?

I sort of think it depends how you felt about your job before you had your DD. With DC1 I looked forward to going back but it took me longer than I expected to settle. (I ended up re-evaluating it all & embarking on further study leading to a career change! Maybe not what you wanted to hear!)
Work life does completely change when you have DC and your priorities change too. 3 weeks is still very early days though. Is reducing your hours an option to get more of a balance between work & home? It is a huge adjustment managing work & home especially with a young baby.

I'd say a full month, now it's like I've never been away and I actually look forward to it.

I have been in my job for over a decade and love my cm and content bsby is happy, also have good working hours and short commute.

So I think it took a couple of days. I am worn out though.

Nearly four weeks back now .... Still waiting. Wishing so badly I could be at home with my ds again.

I've been back two and a half months and was like that for about the first month. But I had extra crap going on - lots of office politics etc. A couple of weeks ago, the main source of my trouble was seconded elsewhere so I'm now empowered again.

Before that, I felt I'd been sidelined, esp as my mat cover has been kept on.

Have you had a proper handover with your mat cover (if you had one)? Could you talk to your boss about a couple of projects you'd like to take on?

I found having a focus helped a lot.

I'd say it was at least 6 weeks until I felt back into things properly (i.e. mind not wandering to thinking about what DD was up to at nursery etc.). I'm back FT now, but I did a 'phased return' which, although it was a good thing, did kind of string things out being in a PT halfway-house.
My mat cover (a bloke) has been kept on too which has been a bit weird...

Agree with a PP about it probably depending on how you felt about your job before you left. It will take a bit of time for routines and logistics to work themselves out, and for you to catch up properly with what's been going on while you were away. Soon you'll realise you've been back a couple of months, things have happened since you returned to work that you're very much part of, and that you actually really enjoy your commute for that little bit of 'me' time it gives you!
