NOTICE PERIOD NHS

Hi, i work un a NHS. My notice period for band 5 is 2 month. I got another job in other NHS. The question es i have to start to work in the new hospital in one month but muy mánager say i have to finish muy notice period (2 month). Someone know what happen if i do not respect m notice period¿ the new job is falso nhs. Will the new hospital know that i left my last job ¿

I thought 2 month notice period was from Band 6 upwards and even longer for higher bands.
Is there anything in the AfC handbook re notice periods for different bands.

AFAIK the band you're on is irrelevant. Your notice period depends on how
Long you've been in the post. If you're moving to another job within the same trust, your line manager can allow you to leave after one month and just fill out a change of hours form. If you are moving to another trust you'll probably have to work the full notice period.

I thought 1-6 was 4 week period

I also thought 4 weeks. It's 8 weeks for band 7, but less for lower bands.

Get in touch with your HR department and get them to clarify how much notice you have to give. Your manager may be right, but he/she may be just trying to get to to stay a bit longer.

DH used to work under NJC conditions, and found that after 36 years he only had to give 4 weeks notice, but on the employer's side it was 3 months.

Could it be something like that? It used to be the longest they could insist on was the frequency with which you were paid.
