Any Eastern Europeans have been successful in getting positions of responsibility?

I am Eastern European professional Have vast amount of experience in professional field. want to apply for a higher positions but feel during interview I am in a disadvantage position... Fell like a runner that people give me positive feedback etc but not really putting 100 to employ me. Has anybody been able to overcome this and gained a position of responsibility?

Yes, I know Eastern Europeans in positions of responsibility and management in the UK.

What makes you think you are at a disadvantage? Language? Discrimination based on nationality? Experience? Too many other better candidates?

There are so many unknown variables when competing for jobs with 100s of others :-)

I am in education. I would not use the word discrimination it is just a feel that my methods of communication, mentality might be disadvantage when communicating with staff who 95% English. Maybe they do not trust my written level of English?

I think there can be some cultural differences in expectations of how to answer at interview etc.. But your written English is quite far from native standard, which might be the issue if that is a significant part of the senior roles. You haven't got far to go to improve that though, maybe you could look at very advanced English courses?

I am a teacher my spoken english ok as long as I know what to say. I think I need more thinking time in interviews in order to clarify how I want to phrase something...what do you mean by cultural expectations when answering questions in interviews? Thank you for helping me to find what I coukd improve ir whether I should just stick to teaching and that be it

My old neighbour is a secondary school teacher. She is from Poland and sometimes struggled to find the right words to say what she meant, but it didn't seem to stop her.
