Where to advertise?

My business targets business women, I want to advertise but the prices of a paid advert in a magazine are astronomical.
Has anyone got any ideas where to advertise; think fashion/ business women.

Those of you in advertising: some magazines I have looked into are charging £750 for a tiny one off space, if I were to offer say £200, is that an absolutely ridiculous proposition and would I be laughed off the phone.

I've done Social Media, got a website etc. but need to step it up a bit. I've thought about a press release; do I just write an article about what I do and submit it to a magazine, is that how it works? Is it better to get this done by an agency?

Lots of questions, I'd be grateful of any answers.

You can either pay an agency to write a press release for you or do it yourself - if you google you'll see the standard format. The main thing is a press release is newsy - you won't get anywhere with 'chinup is here' it has to be 'chinup has a new product or service which will do xyz'. Look at the mags you're interested in and see if they have short news sections - usually at the front. These often have been generated by press releases and you'll be able to get a feel for what they consider news.
