I know that my business is exempt from EL because I only have my husband working with me (I'm a sole trader) but does this extend to PL to cover him too if I get it in just my name and my business name? Or do I need to add sub contractor option to be covered?

I am confused because the comparison websites are classing this as employers liability cover but what I want to know is if for example HE is strimming a lawn and a stone hits a window will they pay out if I don't have cover for sub contractors? Confused

Surely if there's two of you you're not a sole trader but a partnership?
My PLI was only about £70 for the year (I am a sole trader, I work alone). If your DH is doing work that could potentially damage property or people, he'll need PLI in his name.

I would say add as sub contractor as if he's an employee you need employee insurance. As a sub contractor he needs his own insurance - dh occasionally does jobs for me as sub contractor
