Tailoring cvs for every application

Hi all

I'm currently job searching and using sites such as Monster etc etc. I keep hearing how every application you apply for on sites such as these should have a tailored cv for every role.

Do people actually do this??

Yes, My CV for the last 2 jobs I applied for (and got) made sure that all the "competencies" asked for in the ad were specifically covered.

A lot of recruitment is done on a tick box basis, at least in the initial stages. You have to make it easy for them to see that you tick all the boxes.

Thanks Technical. Good points. What's your views on cover letters? Waste of time? I find it hard not to duplicate my cv on cover letters

Sadly agree about tick box approach, & in cover letter parroting back to them phrases they themselves put in the job advert.
