Aargh, help. Will have to start looking for work soon and not sure where to start

I have been working from home as a childminder for the last three years while DD has been little. We are hoping to put the house on the market soon and look for a new one for ourselves however in order to get a decent mortgage I will need to look for a full time job again.

I am happy to do this and have missed working but realise I am not sure where to start! Before childminding I was working as an nvq assessor. I could go back to this but over the last few years I have completed a degree in health and social care and would like to put this to use.

Daft questions I know but where to start looking? I know there are many job sites out there but do all companies advertise on them? Would I be better approaching companies direct? Are there other places to search for suitable jobs? Also I haven't updated my CV in years and my old one is a bit naff. Could anyone advise on that too?

I'd start off with local agencies who can help you get your cv in order and guide you in the direction you want to go. Look at local papers, websites, sites like indeed, monster etc just update with jobs being advertised on other sites, work out when new jobs are updated on sites e.g. The guardian updates arts/charity etc jobs mainly on a Monday and Wednesday. .. send your cv to companies you would like to work for, sometimes volunteering will get your foot in the door. Job agencies do a lot of the work for you matching your cv to a role. Basically do everything you suggested and something will work. Job searching is hard work but if you put the effort in it should pay Off

Main thing is working out the agencies who specialise in your area I think...

Look up the websites of your local authorities. They have a job vacancy section.

Look and see if there's a suitable social care role. Or education or justice i.e. probation of some sort.
