Becoming a carer

Just looking for some advice from someone with any experience.

I really want to go back to work and I've found that there's loads of carer vacancies and not much else.

I have all the skills needed to do the job but I don't drive. Does anyone do a carer job but walk or cycle? I think if theres work in my area I could easily cover a few appointments but no agencies seem to consider people without cars.

My Grandad had a home carer who didn't drive but she found it tough and left.
You often don't get paid between calls so you'd lose more money walking.
What about a care home?

Sorry meant to ask as well, is it a case of assisting one person and then rushing to meet the next few people or do you sometimes just have a couple of service users a day?

Thanks Oddhouse. I'd love to work in a care home but all the jobs advertised at the moment are home help.

My only experience was with my granddads carers but they had 1// hour for him then onto the next one.
