Not sure I have enough courage

Have an opportunity to buy my own optician business which is something I have always wanted to do.
Just worried how I will juggle childcare (7 and 12 year old) and how would I manage to work saturday's which is a really important day.
Risky in the present competitive climate but I have some savings which I have saved for this moment.My husband not all supportive .
Do I do it or give up like I have in the past.

Don't give up!

Do plenty of research, write a business plan and think through every little detail. Work out how your personal life will be affected, work out strategies for childcare etc.

Use this to prove to your husband that you are serious and talk talk talk it through with him asking for his support - and if you don't get it ask yourself what are you doing with him?? (sorry to be harsh).

If you can resolve the childcare issues, and the research you've done to put together a business plan havn't put you off, then go for it! or you'll only regret it.

Hi conway , I think this sounds like a good idea. I understand that your hubby and family are a bit cautious as you will invest a lot of your own time and money into this. I think it's also very British not to want to change things and sometimes feel that it's better to keep things as they are. They must however put their trust in you to do this. I know how you feel, I am in the early stages of starting something small and get not that much help or support - even just a conversation about it or someone showing an interest and asking you a few questions about it would be nice sometimes, wouldn't it?. I don't mind doing it all myself but it would be nice to know that they were at least encouraging! Please tell them to have a little faith in you. May I ask why Saturday's are so important? I understand from both a business and a childcare perspective, but is there something specific you do that can only be done on a Saturday? I only ask as up until my current job I always worked Saturdays. It wasn't great but I didn't mind really, and I did like a bit of time in the week to do normal things when everything is a bit quieter. Lots of luck.

How well do you know the business you're thinking of buying? You really need to be able to work out the finer details from the accounts. Demographics of client base? What are the current staff like? Allow time for working on the business. Feel free to pm me if you need more help

Why isn't your DH supportive? The financial risk or the intrusion on weekends?

Is this what you currently do? What level of experience do you have? Are you acquiring the stock? Are employees TUPEing over?

Having my doubts now as worried about how I will manage childcare in the summer holiday. I worked it out That If Iwork 3 days in the summer holiday's I would only make enough money to pay rent ,rates and staff. NOt enough for electricity etc or for leasing equipment .So would not make any profit.
I don't thing Icould work more than 3 days in the holiday's as wouldn't be fair on the kids,also woudn't be able to afford childcare. We have alsobooked a summer holiday.
So looks like I will have to give up on my dream and everyone can say They Told Me so.
I think I am looking for something totake my mind off my bad marriage.
Need to stop things quick As don't want to pay too many solicitor's fees.
