CV advice needed - how long is too long?

Just that, really. I have 20 yrs experience in my field, and about 7 different employers. Now starting to job hunt again and not sure what the standard is now. Current CV is 4 pages long...too much? I don't think there is any way to fit it on 1 page as used to be considered best practice - but will do if that's really the general advice.

thank you!

4 pages is definitely too long. 1 page cover letter and 2 page cv max is all I'm willing to read when I'm recruiting.

Put the most detail in your most recent two or three jobs and just summarise the rest. All you really need to demonstrate is that you have the relevant experience to get you into an interview.

Agree with Teen - no more than 2 sides of A4, plus covering letter.
