well done lisalisa, I'm glad the meeting went well.

Uwila · 08/08/2006 15:42

Oh, so glad it went well. I'll keep watching this space for news of your big payout!

So what did they say today? Did they tell you their plans?

bossykate · 08/08/2006 15:43

good for you. don't forget the outplacement. good luck

PollyLogos · 08/08/2006 15:49

Glad to hear it went well.

suejonez · 08/08/2006 17:32

Glad to hear it went OK - the worst is over now. Keep us up to date with whats going on.

meowmix · 09/08/2006 07:52

Oh good, glad to hear it.

One (more) word of advice - try to keep icy calm in every meeting with them to discuss package. You want to keep them unsure whether and at what point you'll settle as long as you can. Always prep for the mtg with your lawyer - and don't forget they have to pay a chunk to legal fees, standard is £500 I think, so don't be shy of using your lawyer. Its really important to be angry but not in those meetings. Try to see it as a negotiation for a client rather than for you.

Also if you can bear it make a point of being upbeat and in control around colleagues and get networking. It'll stand you in good stead when you look for something new.

Just wanted to add my support. I was nearly sacked recently (which I know is different) and it was very very scary. I hope you sort it out.

suejonez · 09/08/2006 10:52

Just wanted to add to what meoumix said - one of the ways I coped publically was by brazening it out with colleagues and contemporaries - lots of "this is the best thing that could have happended to me, has forced me to get off my arse and get a job that really challenges me" implication being this one was a piece of piss!) or "Am going to take my time, and only accept the offer I'm really happy with" (becuase obviously you'll get so many).

Not sure if anyone was convinced but it made me feel better. Ultimately it was all true as well, it just didn't FEEL true at the time.

whiffy · 09/08/2006 11:07

Good to hear you have good representation and are making them squirm - Russell Walker very good firm.
If the chap at Russell Walker hasn't already told you this, thought I'd mention that you should bear in mind that if things get ugly it is never never never about YOU, it is simply that there is a professional game to be played and everyone just goes through the steps laid out. When people start saying that day is night, your preformance was *p and all the other stuff that can happen, don't ever think that anybody means any of it or that (for example) just because they may say they don't believe you, it doesn't actually mean they don't believe you (IYKWIM).... this is all a big game of chess so don't get disheartened and don't take things personally.

Good luck.

Bugsy2 · 09/08/2006 11:20

lisalisa, great news that you have a sh*t hot lawyer who thinks you have a good case. Obviously it would be better not to be here in the first place, but given the circs the progress so far sounds good.
Will be thinking of you.

Uwila · 11/08/2006 08:22

Any more news? How are you now? Just being nosey, you know.

WideWebWitch · 19/08/2006 09:09

LisaLisa, how are you? I thought of you yesterday. Update us if you can.

xoxoxo · 20/08/2006 16:21

hello
I may be way too late here but have been in this sit. myself - and come out smiling (eventually) on the other side.
Pls remember to get tax advise on best settlement structure - makes a big, big difference. I can go into details if necessary.

For future ref, can also strongly reccmd palmer wade solicitors who specialise in sex discrimination. Camilla Palmer is sympathetic, strong and does not mind you blubbing down her dress.
