Hello everyone,

I've been selected to attend an interview with a housing association working with young individuals – male and female 16 years and over who are homeless, helping them to gain the skills needed to gain and maintain independent living skills to enable them to move on into permanent accommodation and sustain a tenancy effectively, etc. Now, on the invitation letter they stipulate that ' you will be required to deliver a work activity prior to your interview'. My understanding of this is to devise an activity that actively engages the young people back into work/education?

This is a support worker role.

Any ideas, help, tips :hmmm:

Thanks,

Elspeth

It's not much to go on, is it Elspeth!

You're right, it could mean that. Alternatively, it could mean a work activity for that rôle e.g. independent learning skills...
I would suggest that if that is all the info you have, that you contact them for clarification.

Whatever you decide to do, make it fun & not too complicated, so that it feels more like a game than a lesson...

Hello everyone, Elspeth here.

Just to update you all; the information provided in my first post was all the information i had at the time of posting. I have since however contacted the company, the 'work activity' will be a 10-15 minutes written test. The person that i spoke to would not elaborate on this, so i am guessing it will be a case study, or a written plan of how i will plan an activity that will help the client with independent living skills. If it's the latter, i will write about budgeting/healthy eating? Needless to say, i bloody thankful it is not a presentation :D :D :D :D

Once again, thank you all for your help,

Elspeth

Glad to know that you haven't got to do a presentation, or run an activity whilst being assessed - ugh!

It occurs to me that the test could be to assess your personality/opinions etc. e.g. to check that you're not bigoted or prejudiced. So, it could be "what would you do if.....". Keep in mind equal opportunities!

I think your budgeting & healthy eating idea is a great one for a planned activity btw.
Good luck Elspeth!
