Maternity Allowance, New Limited Company - Help!

Devongirl · 01/08/2006 19:34

Hi

After having a partnership for 15 months, we have just this week become a Limited Company (2 partners, both pregnant). Ideally we would like to claim Maternity Allowance, but we are going to try to continue working from home. Any ideas of what we can do to get everything we can? I sound like a sponger but I'm not, but pay so much tax I feel entitled to something back!

Thanks

Maternity Benefits

This is the job centre site. It gives some good info on the Maternity Allowance and tells you how and when to claim. I don't see why you wouldn't be entitled to it.

Is this your first baby?

Hi, thanks for the message, yes this is my first. The only reason we wouldn't be entitled is because we want to continue working to some extent from home, so I presumed we'd be told that we wouldn't qualify. Seems a bit harsh though, as we really need to 'keep our hands in' to keep our business going. If we stopped for 6 months we'd have lost all our customers!
