References dilemma

I want to go back to work after nearly five years.

I completed a college course around three years ago but don't think my tutor is there any more.

For the past 2 and a bit years I've volunteered at DD's school.

My issue is a job I want to apply for ( that isn't really applicable to working in a school) want 2 references from the last 3 year work period. Do I just put 2 different staff down from the school and use the school address? I have one confirmed but will need to check another. Would an employer mind that they were both volunteering referees?

This employer wants references from the last 3 years specific anyway, but references are something I have been struggling with because I'm no longer in touch with anyone from my last proper job.

I think I would put down one of the volunteering references and one from your last employer. Can't you ring the main number for the company and ask to be put through to your old boss / HR and ask them if they could act as a referee for you?
