How do I register?

I contacted Companies House this am and as not Ltd they said you just contact HMRC?

Is it this easy?

I need indem insurance and I have to purchase software and stationary incl leaflets and buisness cards. I may need to advertise too and/or set up a website? Do I do this after I register to claim back expenses?

register online as self employed ...make sure you go to the .gov. site, it will be free. Then keep every receipt for every work related item you buy, a monthly ledger of income and outgoings, and if you can , a separate bank account just for your business and for paying national insurance.

All business expenses can be offset against tax I think, but a good local accountant will sort you out on all this, a lot of small accountants will give you a free intro meeting to outline what you need to do.

Google indemnity insurance, lots of offers out there, mine for a sole trader with 5million cover was £90.

Get on with setting up your busines, good luck!
