SMP when self employed?

Hi there

Currently work part time employed and self employed but am hoping by the end of year I will be fully self employed. Is there such a thing as maternity pay when self employed or is it all about savings? Not looking to get pregnant again for another 2 years but I guess this is pretty important

Thanks

no SMP but you do get Maternity Allowance if your Class 2 NI is up to date

basically self employed people are like Americans - no Maternity leave!
