Holiday question

I need some advice about holiday entitlement. At my work we have to book our holidays in march for the year april - march. In march we were told to only book 4 weeks of our holidays and to leave one week as a floating week. Now as were getting closer to march everyone has a weeks holiday to take and were short staffed so its going to be difficult to find time to take it. Can they take your holidays/time in lieu off you if they wont let you take it before april?

check your company policy , some will limit how many days you could carry over.

Time in lieu is entirely separate and you need to check the policy on that.

Legally, you must physically take at least 4 weeks in each year. The remainder of your statutory entitlement can be carried over but can't be lost and must be taken. Anything you get over and above statutory it's entirely down to the company rules but legally could be lost or paid in lieu.

Basically you need to check your company rules about carry over, payment in lieu of holiday and if they can force you to do either of those things.

Why has everyone got a week left? Have people been refused permission to take their floating week during the year, or has everyone left it until now without trying to book those days off?
