Do I have to do a tax return?

Hi, forgive me if I'm being stupid! I used to be a teacher but left to be a SAHM quite recently and have picked up bits and pieces of work in a very ad hoc manner. No idea if I need to do a tax return.

I will be teaching 1 class (2 hours per week) at the local college for the LA. I will be doing private tutoring (2 students) for another 2 hours a week. In the summer I do GCSE marking (they have a form to fill in to say I'm under the threshold so I don't get taxed).

I'm way way under the income tax threshold but do I need to do a tax return? Thanks!

I think you still have to do a tax return so that you can prove how much you have been paid this year, which will in turn prove you are under the threshold and should be paying tax.
Have you sorted out a certificate of small earnings so that you don't have to make NI contributions, or are you going to keep those up?

Oh god I don't even know what a certificate of small earnings is Blush.

If you visit direct.gov you should be able to find out everything you need to know.

Thankyou!
