I am back at work tomorrow after almost a year off. I am very lucky to only have to do 3 days a week. DD will be in nursery for 2 days and with DH for one.

Things I am looking forward too:

  1. Getting a bit of 'me' back (sound sounds very selfish I know but there you go LOL)
  2. Being able to drink tea in peace (only at tea break obviously)
  3. Being able to wear an outfit without sick on
  4. Seeing people!!
  5. Being paid.

Things I am not looking forward too:

  1. Missing my DD. Goes without saying. The good thing is that I got her to start at nursery 3 weeks ago so she had settled in. However, she didnt go last week as we both had a very nasty bout of laringitis which means tomorrow will be the first sesion in nearly two weeks. I am really worried this will be like starting again.
  2. Office politics
  3. Will I remember how to do my job????

Good luck!!! I do 3 days a week and I love it. Perfect balance I think.

Give it a few days and it will be like you've never been away!!

Good luck.
I do 2 days a week and that is great for me.

good luck! I do 4 days only 9-2 though so a good balance. Having some me time again has helped me so much and has made the bond with dd much stronger.
Have a great day.

micegg.... the best bits about going back to work are 1) your lunch hour is total 'you' time and you can even drink a HOT coffee with out interuption! 2) that rush of excitement you get when you pick dd up at the end of the day!
good luck!

Best of luck. I work 3 days a week and I think it's a great balance. It's sometimes a bit of an adjustment at first but you will adjust soon, I promise. Hope it goes well

Thank you for all your kind comments. I justw anted to update now my working week has finished and I ahve my mummy head back on.

The first day was not so great as DD cried as I left her which she hadnt done during the settling in period. I promptly went back in to the nursery to check on her and sge was fine. I had a cry as well and felt like an evil mummy as I went to work. Luckily I had arrnaged to do a short day. When I picked her up she was smiling and happy.

The second and third days went really well. I absolutley love being back at work. Its lovely to catch up with old faces and I now ahve something in common with a whole new set of people (other mums).

Overall I would say the anticipation was worse than the event. Its definately the right decision for me as I now have a good variation.
