I've started a small business selling clothes and have set up a Pinterest account (amongst other things) to advertise. What goes on my boards, only stuff that I sell? or pictures of things that inspire me. I've looked at other companies boards and I really can't tell what they have done. Any advice appreciated.

Disclaimer - no business experience. I'd put on anything that fits with your brand/style, because they way people access boards is to look at something they like, then you get the option to look at the boards of the person who pinned it, so someone with similar general taste will then see pictures of stuff from your shop.

Thank you Bakingtins I'm obviously in holiday mode as I can't seem to get my head around this. So I put on my board a coat for example, that's sold by Country Casuals ( as that is the sort of market I'm aiming at) also on the same board are pictures of coats that I'm selling. When someone searches for a coat they see the Country Casuals coat, see who's pinned it and look at their board to see what other things they may like. Have I got it?

Yes that's it.

Well I think that's annoying myself. As someone who uses Pinterest and follows links, I've gone on to get a bit miffed that the thing that caught my eye is not actually for sale.

I would definitely check out Melanie Duncan who is an amazing Pinterest marketing expert. You can watch one of her free Webinars here:

She is honestly very good!

Hope this helps,

Will you be using your own pics?

I ask this to say just be aware that you need permission to use other peoples photographs (if that's what you intend to do), otherwise it's a breach of copyright.

Pinterest have a disclaimer citing that it's the board users responsibility to request permission to use the pics, otherwise the actual owner can insist on having the pics removed.
