Help with a thank you note post interview

Hello, not sure if anyone can help me, but I've been for a job interview today that I badly want. Its well paid, regular freelance design work and it would also be one of the first freelance jobs to get me started in my new career. Unfortunately I did stumble on a question - Where do you like to shop? My mind went blank - managed to say a few places but ended up saying 'I live in blah blah blah and don't get the chance to shop so much these days' Anyway, having spoken to a HR manager friend she said to write a thank you note post interview which I have never done before. The job is in Holland so maybe there is a different culture in writing thank you notes. Would you write one and refer back to a question in it?

You should write a thank you note - but absolutely do not refer to the question - why highlight it again ???

Thanks for the reply. Its because I want the job so much and on the way home I thought of all the places I love to shop at/look at and thought it may be important for them to see that I am enthusiastic and aware of market trends.

I'm a headhunter and agree with Moggy; write the thank-you note, reiterate how interested you are in the job (and why) and don't mention the question.

Thanks Poppy. I have to admit I wrote the letter already and did mention it... this is what I wrote after thanking them for their time etc
I also wanted to refer back to a question I was asked. Where I like to shop? For some reason I became a bit stuck as I was overwhelmed and didn't expect it. Just to clarify I am passionate about seeing the new seasons collections and what is new in the fashion retail market. My personal favorite places to shop are xxx.
I didn't want to leave it too late. I sent it to the person who sent me the invite for interview though, not the people who interviewed me as I didn't have any email contact with them.

I got the job and found out today! Just goes to show that a thank you note may have worked - it didn't do any harm anyway : )

Congrats OP!

Thank you Margo, it was totally unexpected - I have been out of this market since my son was a baby 5 years ago - but tried to keep on designing anyway and it paid off!
