Becoming a licensed minicab driver please help

Hi

My dh is morbidly depressed with his work at the moment and it's really affecting us all. Dh has said how he would like to change his career and get his minicab licence - seems very drawn out but as I gather it's an application form, a topographical certificate, a medical and a crb then you get 'considered'

Well another glitch is the fact out car is too old for taxi use so do taxi companies hire cars out anymore - live in bexley btw

Please help (have rang some firms but not much response)

speak to the council licencing officer : they will tell you how long the waiting list is for licences

Tried that but they won't tell you - there's not a waiting list but applications can take 16 weeks

probably best to go and talk to firms in person
but its not a career move I'd choose
all the cars are shared between self employed drivers and its hard work for often very little money
