Self employed cleaner - what do I need to do?

Hi I have managed to get about 16 hours a week cleaning houses. I want to do this all legitimately but not sure how I go about it all. Do I register for Self Assessment or as a new business? What else? All help is appreciated! Thank you

Start off by registering as self employed, you only have a short window to do this before they whack you with a fine so ring them ASAP, you'll need to tell them your name, in number and contact details iirc.
If you find that your hours increase and you want to take on extra staff or buy larger work related items (a van? industrial hoover?) then look at starting your own business. I think it costs a little to get set up with companies house and sort out how your book keeping will be done etc so probably best left until you've got some money in your pocket and everything is going well.
Best of luck!
