cant afford union fees. but tbh i dont think they hold much sway in the nhs

not really.
tell me i am right in some way.
there are changes going on in the nhs.
a colleague - a union rep- often calls out union but as far as i can see it makes no difference. and i have been in meetings when the union rep are all guns blazing, pre meeting. when the meeting with the manager starts they simper away.

As a nurse I have never needed a union rep's help but I know colleagues that have. I would never work without being a member of a union.

i know nurses have to be in a union, but am not a nurse.

Nurses don't have to be in a union. I am a nurse and I stopped my union membership as money is tight at the moment.
I know lots of nurses who are not in the union.
