I was offered a promotion at my current company but different department. Due to start at the end of the year for various reasons but offer made in the summer. I had an email talking about my transition to the new department where hr was copied in but no contract due to job not starting for another 3 months.

A new manager started a month ago and said that role was not available and his opinion was it didn't work for 30 hours as had been agreed at time of offer. As a result he offered me a much lower job so I won't get the 20% payrise I had planned for.

Today I see they are advertising for the job I was offered. I haven't been told. At the moment I am on a transition plan which means I work one day a week in the new department before taking up the lower role in a month.

What should I do or do I have to suck it up?

I'm not sure about the legalities of this but I think it's awful behaviour. How much do you have in writing, esp re your payrise, and have you spoken to hr?

Hopefully someone will be along in a minute who can give you some more practical advice.

Thank you. Nothing in writing about money as I naively didn't expect this to happen. There was such a time lag between the offer and the start so thought paperwork would come later.

I haven't spoken to HR . I only found out last night about the advert for the job.

Is the job being advertised for 30 hours a week?

Hours are not specified in the ad but I would imagine they will want ft. Thanks flowery BTW.
