Advice on applying for full-time role on job share basis.

..is there any point in doing this? Am currently employed, working part-time under flexible working arrangements. Have seen a post I would love to do, think am very suitable for (quite a niche market) but really don't want to work full-time with two small dcs. Someone has suggested I apply anyway, stating I am interested in a job share. I believe I can do this; but is it just a short-cut to the bin for my application form? I don't have anyone to apply with as a js partner.
It's a temporary post, if that's relevant.
Any advice/experience of this much appreciated.

You may have nothing to lose by applying and stating you'd like to job share. It may be something that the employer hasn't considered as an option, at the end of the day they can say no.
A few things to consider, you say you are currently part time employed, I presume permanent? Would you be hoping that the new role would become permanent after the contract finishes? If you already have a part time flexible position you are risking a fair bit if you get the job but it never turns permanent.
From the employers perspective, if they could easily find another individual to job share they may think why not but if its in a niche area is that likely?

Thank you both very much. My reason for not contacting them first is that I was hoping they'd read my form and be blown away (!) by me before realising I wanted p/t. Prawntoast I didn't explain it well, it would count as a secondment so could return to old job after it - or move on to greater things.

If it was a few years from now I'd just go full-time, but I really don't want to now.
