Personally I would say that you are employed by the school to supervise meal times & not clean. Do you have a written contract ? It should say on there what you are employed to do. However I suppose it may say cleaning ( as in helping to clean up after dinner ??
Agree it wold have been better to ask 'would you mind' helping rather than telling you. If you didn;t go in, would you get paid? - maybe they think they are doing you a favour by still needing you even thought he school is closed?

I have read my contract and it only says about my care of the children. I am going in because i want to apply for a TA position in the school and dont want it to go agaist me ,because i didnt turn up . the head teache rhas said that we would get days off with pay when the school wa sclosed for incidents like this because we attend meetings (at least 1 amonth) without pay .
