Can my bosses do this?

Hi, I went on mat leave at the start of March and due to return at the start of Dec. I went in for a meeting today to discuss changes for when I return...due to funding issues every dept. is having hours cut. My contract is for 28 hours, so four 7 hour days, in Jan they want me to cut to three 6.5 hour days (they have suggested I use my annual leave to take dec off otherwise they want me to reduce hours as soon as I come back). Bearing in mind hours are being cut across the company do I still have the right to return on same terms and if so how soon after I return can they change them? sorry for the ramble still trying to take it in, thanks

Don't know about your specific situation, but I was made redundant while on mat leave. 55% of my department was made redundant, so there was no way I was being discriminated against! If everyone is having their hours but, I would think (but don't know!) that you have to accept it.

Hope fully this will bump for someone who knows what they're talking about!
