Never been out of work, same job for years & years. It's a professional role.

I'm in a similar position and have used a skills based cv (am accountant) - just literally just started applying and have submitted my cv to agencies in that sort of format. The agents haven't said negative comments about the format so must be fine.

My advice would be to have one template CV that has all your details on then use this as a basis to craft an individual CV for each application. They're judging you with a checklist so you want them to be able to give you a tick for as many sections as possible so look at the application and edit your CV accordingly.

This has always worked for me and I've been on recruitment panels too and am always glad when somebody has taken the time to tailor their CV - if you have a massive pile to sift through you need it to be obvious who has the right skills.

Oooh just thought of something else - I don't remember where I read it but I once read a tip about subtly mirroring the organisation's style in your application. Look at their website and if it is very formal, use that approach. Likewise if it is more modern and sparing. Don't completely copy but just create a subtle feeling of familiarity when they look at your application.
