Hi,

I have been temping in the company since January. And a role has come up that I want to apply for, alongside the team I am temping with. Should I talk to my boss before applying or just send my CV? I told her about a month back that I was pregnant. Have i hindered my chance to get that job?

Don't ask her whether you should apply. Mention that you were excited to see this opportunity and are applying.

Will she have anything to do with decision making for the post?

Hi flowery. She would be the interviewer and who I would work for. Alongside who I'm working with now. I've sent her an email asking for a job profile. And il send my cv later
Just feel like pregnancy is going to put her off a little due to leave next year

Well, you've told her now so you can't do anything about that. Obviously she is not allowed to discriminate on the basis of your pregnancy and if you are the best person for the job, should give it to you regardless.

In practice, it might put her off, but as I say, there's nothing you can do at the moment. Just put in the best application you can, give as good an interview as you can and see what happens. You are in a really good position as you've been there a while, and they obviously like you otherwise you wouldn't still be there.

If you don't get the job and you think your pregnancy is all or part of the reason for that, you will need to consider whether you want to take it further. But at the moment, just concentrate on making a good application.

I don't know how rare this is, but I've given a post to a woman who was 7 months pregnant before. We recruited one of the other applicants as her maternity cover. The pregnant lady is still with us, but now promoted, 5 years later, so don't presume that an employer will unofficially write you off.
