Are there any SMP experts out there?

I'm 27 weeks pregnant and I'm working what I think is effectively a zero hours contract. I've had a quote for my entitlement to SMP which I think is based on my average weekly earnings in the 8 weeks up until the 25th week of pregnancy.

I've just found out that due to circumstances beyond my control my weekly earnings for the next three months will be considerably less than those in the period they have calculated my maternity pay on.

My question is will my SMP calculation change or is it set now, provided I work my contract until I go on leave?

Thanks for any info!

To the best of my knowledge it doesn't change. Have you got a HR dept you can ask? If not maybe HMRC website might be worth a look?

No, it won't change. See page 21... below.

Just as an aside, if your pay goes up after it's been calculated, at any time including when you are already receiving it, it does have to be recalculated.
